The 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible offered was one of the two or three cars used for on-screen work during the 1972 Mod Squad season. Since Chrysler discontinued Challenger Convertible production after 1971, this car was updated with 1972-specific front and rear components, creating an interesting hybrid. Highly optioned with an automatic transmission, bucket seats and a console, it was also used as a PR/show car in period. Today, it displays an exterior refinish dating back 10 years

1965 Chevelle Malibu SS, only 201 made... out of 70,000 Chevelles that year

Only one was covertible, built for Dan Blocker, because he played a rancher on the tv show Bonanza, and his cowboy hat was huge... and he wanted to drive in parades in character with that huge hat, and Chevrolet was a big sponser of the show.

When Chevrolet released the Chevelle Malibu SS in the summer of 1965 it produced only 201 of them out of a total of 70,000 Chevelles of various models. This muscle car had all the ingredients to be a hit; stunning good looks, power, and a very limited number. And it was a major hit. Chevrolets sponsorship of the hit tv show Bonanza helped push the brand with one of the stars, big Dan Blocker, who played Hoss, being an enthusiast of the Chevelle Malibu SS. Most of the car magazines ran some sort of article on the 65 Malibu SS that year and they pretty much waxed lyrical about this special sports car.

Thanks to this heavy promotion of the 65 Chevelle Malibu and the fact that only 201 of them were made meant that it was a runaway seller. Many Chevrolet dealerships never got to see one of these babies let along get the opportunity to sell one. Those that did get one on the car-yard had no trouble selling it.

Looking at the 65 Chevelle Malibu SS today, it is one of the most sought after classic muscle cars around. There are only around 60 to 70 of them left in good to pristine condition, so if you happen to come across one of these in a car graveyard then it is well worth the effort to bring it back to life.

the movie "Real Steel" is awesome, and has a cool International Harvester COE Sightliner as Hugh Jackman's mobile home/robot hauler... it's frickin cool

I hope they make a sequel... it is a no brainer in my opinion that this story line of a young kid and his absentee dad reuniting and getting a robot to win the world championship, is the newest in a line of Rocky, The Champ, Karate Kid  type feel good action movies... To let it go withough a great sequel of them continuing to be partners in the robot games, and further learning that the dad character has a lot to experience from his kids point of view .. that would be a shame

If you've already enjoyed the movie, you'll love reading this interview with Hugh http://collider.com/hugh-jackman-real-steel-interview-2/118641/ it sheds light on the characters of the kid and dad from Hugh's perspective as an actor helping out a young new actor. Great stuff. I read the whole damn thing, its that good

the 1930 Ford Hot Rod that was driven in the opening scenes of Harrison Ford’s epic return to Indiana Jones franchise, the 1973 Ford Torino and the 1963 Chevrolet custom fuel heist truck that in Fast & Furious 4, a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria that appeared in the movie Taxi with Queen Latifah, and a 1948 Hudson Commodore Sedan from the movie Driving Miss Daisy

Our Gang / Little Rascals made this terrific taxi... donkey powered, a pusher really, with innovation in everything it does

 the license plate is a 1917 New York

 The driver heard a yell for a taxi, and he reaches up to activate the brake to slow down

 below are the many different controls the driver has, you can see he pulls the choke (this was a real thing before advanced carbuerators, it allowed the carb to run better by adjusting the amount of air running through it "Choking" the air supply, creating a vacuum that made the fuel metereing circuit run richer )

 and here you can see how the mule power is stopped... they close off the food that mule eats. No food, and the mule stops walking toward it. When the lid is lifted, the food is available, and the mule walks toward it, moving the taxi

the fuel level indicator was a float on the water supply of the mule.

Meanwhile in the engine bay, Farina (the black kid before Buckwheat) is making engine noise by rolling a cam against the "ingine" stick

 Here you can see Farina in the engine bay... with a pump, starter, that ingine, and the radio

 When they pulled the radio string, Farina started singing, saying he was Tony Wons... I happen to have a donzen books by Tony Wons... and was surprised to hear this. It places the movie from 1929 to 1943 I think, as that is the last year of Tony Wons' scrapbook I have. They are very good

 After singing he played the kazoo

 You can almost make out the paddle that smacked the mules butt, and made him walk faster. It's hinged at the top of the spare tire pile on his back, at the upper left corner of this photo

 Above is the "Fare Master" that indicated how many pennies they were charging to go to a destination
